For a time the Evette clarinets actually were built by other manufacturers under Buffet's sponsorship, and these instruments are marked"Evette sponsored by Buffet" By the early 1970s Buffet was making the Evettes in their own factory in Paris. Lower priced clarinets for the beginner and intermediate market were branded"Evette" and"Evette& Schaeffer" respectively.

Please note the following: The mouthpiece. I t is a rich and mellow sounding instrument in a padded Selmer case. You are looking at a composite wooden clarinet. It's got the trademark ringing tone of a fine vintage R13 and an agile response, much Better actually than some R13s I have played, particularly the newer ones. The quality of the wood is exceptional, far better than most grenadilla clarinets being produced today. Plating on keys is close to perfect, no wear-through anywhere, and the grenadilla wood body is also in near perfect with NO CRACKS or repairs, sharp tenons and tonehole chimneys, and no noticeable scratches or dents. I have just given it a complete overhaul(details below) and restored it as closely as possible to new in both appearance and playability. It has seen only light use and was carefully looked after. Serial number D268XX is stamped on both upper and lower joints. Its model designation was changed to E12 around 1985, and has now been replaced by the E11 France($1580 new) but the new model, with glued-in tone hole inserts, glued-in keyposts, and a fragile lacquered finish, doesn't come close to matching its quality, or its sound.
